Educational

Over 7 years ago, DI was innovative in its approach to learning.    We recognised the benefits of providing structured learning and educational opportunities in an environment that provided personal care.  This initiative was developed with Brooklands College to enable disabled adults to gain greater levels of independence particularly around life roles and vocational skills.

We currently offer 14 course opportunities in partnership with Brooklands College and to date, 90% of clients who have participated in a course have gained a recognised qualification.

Brooklands literacy and numeracy course, also in partnership with Brooklands College, equips clients with the required skills for everyday living such as improving confidence with basic reading and number skills through to writing a CV or managing finances.

At DI, we understand that people have widely differing learning styles but we believe everyone should have an opportunity to learn and find their own route of progression.   We encourage people to see their own potential and work towards their personal goals, whether it is learning for fun, for work or self development.

Our clients tell us the difference that Brooklands educational courses have made to them has changed their lives and truly expanded their horizons.

Suffice to say, our holistic approach to supporting disabled adults as they learn only requires a little joint lateral thinking, some imagination and, of course, dedication - which DI and our clients have in abundance!
