  • Functional Mobility (wheelchair transfers, standing frames etc)

Cookery & Nutrition

DI believes that all it takes is one fun and accessible experience to arouse an interest in cookery and enthuse clients to learn how to provide nourishing food for themselves. Cookery at DI can be anything from preparing a snack to a feast for the family.  It is a key skill which promotes the understanding of food choice, healthy eating, food hygiene and safety.  We also look at creating balanced menus within a budget.  DI has a fully accessible and adapted kitchen suitable for the wheelchair user and we also have a wide range of equipment to help make tasks easier.

Gardening

Whilst DI understands that gardening can create a myriad of emotional and social benefits, the health benefits of being outdoors, breathing in fresh air and doing physical work cannot be overlooked.  DI believes that gardening can be an important part of a person’s recovery inbuilding up their strength and to help them overcome their physical challenges.  Indeed, we have a purpose-built, wheelchair accessible, courtyard garden built by our own clients!

Community Access

With the Resource Centre being so close to Camberley town centre and its new Atrium leisure complex, clients of DI are able to access local amenities on a daily basis either independently or escorted.  Accessing the community is a key tool on the road to independence for many of our clients.
