BAM Nuttall Certainly Hasn’t Walked By!
The management and staff at BAM Nuttall UK’s headquarters in Camberley certainly haven’t walked by the Disability Initiative Resource Centre, based in the same road, without asking if there is something they can do.
Wanting to support the local community in some way and being neighbourly, DI was an obvious choice. They went to see the work that DI does in providing services and support to adults with complex physical disabilities.
A tour of the building later and BAM Nuttall were struck by the vibrant, progressive and dynamic environment where everyone is able to thrive and so wanted to support in some way - as a result both were inspired to form a relationship.
It was obvious to BAM Nuttall that DI’s high standard of care, ethos and approach which recognises personal choices, dignity and freedom of the individual was not that dissimilar to its own approach of building its client base, where the emphasis is on strong, honest and long lasting relationships with satisfied customers.
The relationship has been launched by BAM Nuttall offering to sponsor the charity’s 35th anniversary celebrations on 30th September. This will evolve over the long term as the two organisations work closer together. Initially, BAM Nuttall’s staff will volunteer to help with repairs and renewals, becoming ‘buddies’ and helping with activities and sessions using their expertise.
Derek Ross, Director of Business Process and Sustainability said,”I’m sure that BAM Nuttall staff will get involved and enjoy this association and feel that they are putting something back into the community. We are looking forward to doing what we can to help improve the quality of life for some clients of the Disability Initiative”.
Lucy Brown, CEO of DI, commented, “We couldn’t be more delighted that our neighbours have offered to support DI, not only financially where appropriate but also with staff giving up their time for such an exceptional charity”.
