BAM Nuttall Computes DI's Requirements!

Cheque presentation

Following the recent announcement of the relationship between BAM Nuttall and Disability Initiative, BAM Nuttall has given the charity three re-conditioned laptop computers for their clients to use at the resource centre. They replace their technical equipment every three years and this seemed a good way of recycling high spec computers and put them to good use.  DI is delighted as its computer equipment is 8 years old and desperately needs replacing and/or updating.

Head of BAM Nuttall ICT Services, Steve Shepherd, couldn’t be more delighted to know that the laptops will be hugely beneficial to DI’s clients. He has also offered the support of his department should DI need any technical advice and help with setting them up or ongoing computer issues.

Both organisations fully believe this newly formed relationship is an exciting and innovative venture, building community responsibility – the ‘Big Society’ in practice!

Many BAM Nuttall staff are interested in volunteering and working with DI across a range of activities from repairs and renewals, becoming buddies to clients and offering help and assistance.  DI will support, educate and train these volunteers.

Disability Initiative is celebrating its 35th anniversary as a charity and its 10th anniversary of being in its purpose-built resource centre on 30th September.  The celebrations include a visit from DI’s Patron, HRH The Countess of Wessex, as well as many other local dignatories, previous clients and guests. BAM Nuttall fully understand how expensive catering for hundreds of guests can be so have made a generous donation towards the costs of hosting the celebrations which will be enjoyed by a great many people.
