Cognitive and Communication

Clients are supported to maintain their cognitive and communication skills throughout all activities and programmes. For clients with more specific cognitive problems, such as reduced memory, attention, problem solving or higher level deficits, we offer specific group sessions. These are facilitated by an Occupational Therapist and provide an opportunity to practice and develop these skills as required.

Activities include tasks such as diary management, practicing memory strategies and practical problem solving tasks. We also provide a variety of sessions designed to maximise a range of communication skills, to develop functional conversation strategies and build confidence. We have access to a qualified Speech and Language Therapist to provide specific assessment and advice if required.
