Functional Mobility
DI offers functional mobility programmes designed to help clients maintain and enhance their mobility, balance, and independence in daily activities. These programmes aim to improve strength, flexibility, and coordination. Each session is adapted to individual needs, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all participants.
We offer a fully accessible fitness area equipped with specialised rehabilitation equipment, such as ‘Motomed’ movement therapy bikes and standing ‘Genie’ wheelchairs, ensuring all clients can participate comfortably and safely.
For individuals with conditions like cerebral palsy or neurological impairments, functional mobility exercises can encourage neuroplasticity (the brain’s ability to form new neural connections). Over time, this could help reduce spasticity or abnormal muscle tone by promoting more efficient motor patterns. Regular mobility exercises can help reduce excessive muscle tightness (spasticity or hypertonia) by promoting more fluid, controlled movement.
Through these Functional Mobility Programmes, DI helps clients enjoy a more active lifestyle, supporting their ability to live independently and engage more fully in the community.
