7 May 2019

May has been a tremendous month for DI. We celebrated the opening of our new Satellite Service in Fleet, Hampshire by DI’s Patron HRH the Countess of Wessex.

The event attended by 100 guests including the Lord Lieutenant of Hampshire Nigel Atkinson and wife Christine and officers from Hampshire and Surrey Health and social care departments, businesses along with Eagle Radio and other key partners and supporters.

HRH the Countess of Wessex who has been our Patron for 17 years chatted with ease and grace as she met each and every attendee.

HRH joined in a fun filled confidence building session. Facilitated by drama Tutor Lindsay Mills.

Dan and Daryl assisted with the official ribbon cutting, prior to enjoying a fabulous cake replica of the new centre.

Bill Biddell, DI’s President along with CEO Lucy Brown and Chairman Bob Ricketts hosted the event, and spoke about the work of the charity.

Billy a DI Client gave an impassioned speech about the positive impact DI has had on his life.

Following an inspirational speech from HRH, the proceedings ended with an all-inclusive flash mob that entailed the entire party singing a tribute to DI, accompanied by Kazoos!
