DI/CISCO & Guildford Shakespeare Company Collaboration

DI/CISCO collaboration day 8th June

20 Jun 2016

On the 8th June 2016, CISCO joined DI for a third year, 'Global Giving Back Day'. The day focussed on the importance of Emotional Intelligence (EQ) and communication. In recognition of the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare's death, one of the world's most famous communicators, DI had the pleasure of partnering with the Guildford Shakespeare Company (GSC) to run the sessions.

The 80 strong group descended on Camberley Theatre, with a challenge to recreate fairy tales from the Brothers Grimm in preparation for giving an afternoon performance. All four teams rose to the challenge with energy, enthusiasm and determination.

The day successfully brought together the Arts, Technology and individual abilities, to break down boundaries and perceptions and to show what can be achieved through effective communication and emotional intelligence. Many challenges were overcome, many unique abilities were showcased and much fun was had by everyone involved.

Following the outstanding performances by DI's clients and CISCO volunteers, actor and local councillor Ian Cullen, a former member of the Royal Shakespeare Company, gave his rendition of the 'St Crispin's Day' speech from Shakespeare's Henry V to an enraptured audience.

Much thanks was given to the Guildford Shakespeare Company, Ian Cullen, the CISCO volunteers and to all DI clients who took part for their enthusiasm, commitment and energy which resulted in a collaboration of an extraordinary magnitude.
