DI's 40 years of service celebration
22 Jun 2015
DI celebrates 40 years of service with their patron HRH the Countess of Wessex and others.
The event was attended by over 250 people who included clients, past and present, their carers, former and current staff, trustees and volunteers along with other dignitaries and VIPs.
The President Bill Biddell opened the night with a very comical speech, which led into the rhythmic tongue of Lucy Brown telling a potted 40 year history of the Charity. The DI staff and clients then sang to pay tribute to DI. Followed by a tailor written birthday song for HRH Countess of Wessex who also shared a significant birthday this year. The dancefloor had an array of guests all dancing to the performance of CJ Edwards’s band who knew exactly how to get a party started.
Tomlinscote School provided delicious canapés and gained a seal of approval from Michelin star chef, guest Steve Drake. The 6th formers were fabulous from beginning and end.
All who attended said it was a truly fabulous evening, well organised and a wonderful tribute to the work at DI.
So the evening was a magnificent celebration, one to hold in our memories I’m sure.
Quotes from clients
I felt that we weren’t just celebrating the last 40 years, but the many more years in the future. Amazing seeing everyone old and new. Sam R
HRH was lovely and very much like a friend to all of us here. It was a really nice celebration. Chessie F
