One of the many popular sessions at DI is the History Group, exploring various aspects of historical events and how they may have impacted on our clients directly. Recently the group researched how WW1 affected their families. Bill, below, was aware that his grandfather had served in the military, but little else so Bill embarked upon a journey of research. He discovered that W.Hull, his grandfather, died on 7th December 1915 at Casualty Clearing Station No 17 in the Ypres salient.

It transpired that his headstone is located at Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery in Belgium, which is adjacent to the site of CCS17. Following an email to the cemetery, they kindly sent a photo of his headstone to Bill.

The history group uncovers many untold stories and has informed us of our past and present, our own and others.
